PLAGERIZING?

PLAGERIZING?

Copies from the original; most quoted often verifies where you are coming from. “Out of the abundance of your heart Popular opinion is popular for a reason. Somebody has stolen your thunder. They said it exactly the way your thought. How did they know that’s how you felt? “There is nothing new under the Sun.

It’s like a joke that’s soon forgotten, like a lily soon wilted or grass under the hot sun soon gone with the wind. A song may out live you, A poem inspired fades, instruction manuals change, but thoughts still originate from what’s been planted before and are just copies of what is more caught than taught. How brief is this life!

Did you ever notice Doctor So-and-so’s with a string of degrees after his name or an artist or composer “originals must never be copied, or else? Yet in their “Originals exist quotes from their teachers; journalists are famous for. You think you are one-of-a-kind, never before thought of. Your inventions are of your own making and your impressions are unique? And, don’t let anyone come near you in thinking the same thing the same way, or else. Copy rights instead of copy-cats rule. Did you ever notice what gives some men their fame or their titles cannot be infringed upon? Dr. so-and-so says you may not make any reproduction of the same without his permission. And, did you ever read or play the tune that is all familiar from before or read his quotes from others you may never replay?

Where do thoughts come from? Who thought you your language? Where did you interpret ideas from another culture? Are “your thoughts, my thoughts says the Lord Transfer scores from others impressions; can you claim as your original? Give credit where credit is due; from the hand of God, Our Father that has made you. He is the originator! You think your theology is the only way, truth or way to live; that no one else can come to the Father except by you? He said, “He is the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except by Him. It’s all about HIM. Your publications are not new with some twist of fame you claim as your own. He is the one-of-a-kind original and you can copy HIM. He’s waiting and watching!

Now what do you have to say for yourself? You used to think you had the only church in town. Now what? The songs you sang was the only blessed tune. Who sings it now? Your school of thought is not alone when He is in it! You think what you say and  how you say it is “the cat’s meow. You wonder why no one joins you on the chorus?

COMICS – CARTOONS

November 13, 2005

C.S. Lewis famous for witches and wardrobes, talking animals that convey a message in Disney likeness characters. What do we do with Scripture that talks about the last days men being turned to fables? True or false, Fables are inanimate objects acting human. Dare we suggest such is the case today? What is being called good? Stop and think!

COMIC BOOKS – CARTOONS

Holy podcasts, Batman! Talking about God and superheroes with Dave Zimmerman

We’ve got something special for you today: ThinkChristian’s first podcast!

I recently had the chance to sit down and talk about God, superheroes, and comic books with Dave Zimmerman, author of Comic Book Character. In CBC, Dave takes a close look at superheroes and what they have to tell us about our values and the challenge of living virtuously. Here’s the audio of our conversation:

Comic Book Character: Interview with Dave Zimmerman (52 meg MP3 file; click to download)

Many thanks to Dave for letting me take time away from his busy Saturday to pester him with questions about superheroes.

Here are two relevant links you might want to check out in conjunction with the interview:

Dave’s book Comic Book Character, available from IVPress. Plenty of info there, including a downloadable group study guide to go along with the book; and

Dave’s blog Strangely Dim, where he talks about superheroes and other topics.

AND:To whom does Spider-man pray?

The religious affiliations of famous comic book superheroes. (Plenty of more serious religion statistics elsewhere on that site as well.)

The Bible talks about talking trees saying that they want to bow down to the bramble bush to rule over them. Another is when the ass turned and spoke to Balaam to look and see an angel blocking the road.
The Bible talks about the last days; men being turned to fables (inanimate objects act human, like Mickey and Donald) Starts with Mother Goose and Fairy tales. Turn on T.V. and see all the comics in adult programming and commercials, etc. A sub culture in itself. What are we raising our children on? What do you think Dizzy World is all about?

“Disney: A Mouse Betrayed
The above caption reflects the title of a recently published book written by journalists Peter and Rochelle Schweizer. The authors assert that this is not a volume which conveys their personal opinions; rather, it is a labor of strict journalism. The Schweizers did an investigative study of the Walt Disney enterprise.
In preparation for their book, they interviewed hundreds of former and current Disney employees. They talked extensively with law enforcement personnel. They studied hundreds of documents (many of which are reprinted in their book). They adamantly declare that they do not cite anonymous sources; those who supplied the testimony for this dynamic production were all willing to go “on the record. The primary focus of Mouse Betrayed has to do with Disney World in Florida; there are startling revelations indeed.
Some of us who are older had our first exposure to the productions of Walt Disney via Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, or perhaps Bambi. Those were the days when the Disney name was squeaky clean. Since then, however, a half-century later, a “Pharaoh who knew not Joseph has ascended to the children’s entertainment throne.
Author, Perucci Ferraiuolo, in his recently published book, Disney and the Bible: A Scriptural Critique of a Media Conglomerate, says: “The Disney I grew up with and loved is not the Disney of today. He says that in Disney productions: “Innocence is gone; morality is interpretive, family values are irrelevant, and the American public is suffering the consequences

The Holy Land Eperience
R. C.
A Christian’s Alternative to Dizzy Land, Unireversal.

It has been 2000 years since the world has seen anything like this! The Holy Land Experience is a living, biblical museum that takes you 6000 miles away and 2000 years back in time to the land of the Bible. Its unique sights, sounds and tastes stimulate your senses and blend together to create a spectacular, new experience.
Imagine entering an exact replica of the Garden Tomb where the body of the Lord Jesus Christ was buried. In reverence, you approach the Tomb where he emerged victorious over death. Step under a massive archway – the grand entrance to the spectacular Plaza of Nations – and behold the gleaming white stone plaza surrounding you with its thirty Roman columns crowned with gold capitals. All of this grandeur majestically frames the imposing Temple of the Great King, the place held in highest reverence among the Jewish people. It is truly a breathtaking representation of the Temple that once stood on hallowed Mt. Moriah in first century Jerusalem. Gathering under this towering six story Temple, you will sense the awe-inspiring splendor that the Jewish people experienced as they assembled in this sacred place so many years ago

There are many wonderful things to learn at The Holy Land Experience. From the moment you pass through the gates of the “walled city” you will be immersed in ancient Jerusalem. The structures and exhibits at The Holy Land Experience characterize the style, the architecture and the settings that existed in the Holy Land two thousand years ago. The Garden Tomb, the Qumran Caves, The Plaza of the Nations, the Temple of the Great King, the Jerusalem Model and the Wilderness Tabernacle are intricately detailed, both inside and out, to provide you with a clearer understanding of their biblical significance.
A “cast” of dramatists will recount many of the events that transpired during this pivotal period of human history. Brief dramatic presentations throughout the day will be augmented with special music and theatrical events by the staff musicians and special guests.

A magnificent new addition to The Holy Land Experience opened on August 19th of 2002. The Scriptorium: Center for Biblical Antiquities is one of the most unique facilities of its kind in the world. This 18,000 square-foot, 13 million dollar museum, built in fourth-century Byzantine architectural style, houses the finest private collection of authentic biblical artifacts and antiquities in the world. Inside, ancient cuneiform, scrolls, manuscripts and Bibles – many of which are extremely rare or the only known copies in existence – are available for you to see up close. Each treasured piece is exhibited in the historical and geological environment out of which it came.

IS JESUS COMING SOON?

November 4, 2005

Oh Dad, you say that every year. No one knows when Jesus is coming. You upset us with your “rants. I read it in the Red Letters (Jesus speaking) Edition. “You know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes. (Matthew 25:13)
The rest of the story began back in Chapter 24:42 (still in Red letters) “Watch therefore: for you know not what hour your Lord comes. The rest of the story goes on to explain, “If you had known _ _ _ he would watch _ _ _ be ready _ _ _ for in such an hour that you think not the Son of man comes. He goes on to describe wise and evil servant who said in his heart ‘My Lord delays His coming.
II Peter 3 (In black letters, equally inspired) “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers _ _ _ saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming? _ _ _ all things continue as they were from the beginning _ _ _.’ (Chapter 3:3,4) Now (vs.9) “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise _ _ _. (You’ve got to read to the end)
Please don’t get upset at why I think His appearing is soon. The context of Matthew 25 (in Red) talks about “BEing wise _ _ _. You never know when! There is no reason why not Today! Continue reading at verse 14.
My “Rants
The “Kingdom Of Heaven is. . .
Question: Who is traveling to a far country? Is He coming soon? Will He find us watching and waiting? Who are the servants He calls? His Own? What does He leave them with? Money? Property? Goods? What kind of things?
“Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from above. Investments are in you! “To every man according to his “several abilities. Are talents abilities? Paid about a $1000 for your trade? What is produced? Does ability add up? Are talents the same as Spiritual gifts? Have you gained what others have given up by default? What has been left open to be filled by you? Do you see opportunities? Anything to gain? Is my motivation right? To be ruler over? What does He mean to enter “The Joy of the Lord? What do “Things have to do with it? Is it related to “Goods left in your care? What does it have to do with how much I can handle? 1, 2 or 5? Is it true, our Master is a hard man? How sad! Are Brokers and Bankers the last resort? What interest do they have in your ability to handle things? Should we be charging interest in our gifts to others? Is usury prohibited? What’s wrong with it? What is in your hand? Your possessions? What is the relation to His coming again? (Mt.24:42-47)
Take inventory. What can I give out of hand? Gifts? Talents? – weight of coins, money. ($1000, $2000 or $5000) His goods – things, in hand, property, possessions. (worth, value) Investments traded into the Kingdom of Heaven. “You feed five thousand. Disciples have a few fish and barley loaves. What do you have in your hand? A Rod? A jaw bone? You have His Word, His life, His Spirit, His power and strength. Performance is paid for (traded) for an increase. “They sold what they had and laid the  money at the Apostles feet. “Silver and Gold have I none, but what I have I give _ _ _. Practical application: You have pots & pans, a home, a car, a pen & paper, a phone, a needle and thread, a broom, a hammer & saw. You have a family, a spouse, children, a church, a school, a government, an influence, A vote, a voice, a mind, a heart and a hand. Witness in Heaven those you have touched with your life.

Is Jesus the ONLY way?

November 4, 2005

Our small group, PRAY-ERS met Tuesday night to discuss “HOW TO explain the Gospel.
WOW! For starters define propitiation; even if you have to make something up.
Connecting with the family of God through payment for a debt you could never pay; Payment for sins penalty to restore us in Our Fathers Image. Jesus paid in full the price with the cost of His own life’s blood in His skin-costume, earthsuited for the cross. Sad, but true, “Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe, Sin has left its crimson stain, He washed us white as snow. We are rescued from a fate of eternal separation from God. This “GOOD NEWS is the Gospel truth that enables us to live for eternity in a Heavenly Kingdom.  This gives “HOPE for something we want, fully expecting while waiting and groaning (Romans 8:22-25) confidently to reach a perfect fullness of His presence.
His Spirit, Holy, clean and reverent, gives to us a right to give a reason to anyone who asks. (I Peter 3:13-17) This is hopefully done with a clear conscience, gentleness and respect. We take our stand on how Christ died for our sins, was buried and that He rose again from the dead. The proof of the Scriptures in all of His appearances, just as He said; “Because I live, you too shall live is reason for our hope. “BEing prepared to explain this to others takes experience in earning the right to say so in our relationships.
All our preconceived notions B.C. (Before Christ) that “all roads lead to Heaven fail in comparison to His Love and plan for us. Our problem: Separation form God, because we are sinful, left us on a cliff, separated from a Holy God. To draw a picture of that may take a little practical experience on filling the gap to God. The Cross illustrates a vivid approach to bridge that space by the Cross spanning the valley of despair as God’s remedy for our separation from Him. We reach out in response by admitting where we are at (sinners) and accepting His only way of escape by trusting Him “over troubled waters. (The Cross)  We accept what we could never do to pay the debt of Love we owe by asking for His free gift of everlasting life. We respond to the truth as the way to life when we see and hear His Word to us. We believe in Him; we are not condemned; and we have crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24) We have peace with God, forgiveness and an abundant life. Through our hearts crying out to God, “I am a sinner, forgive me, turning from our sin and despair by believing Christ died for my sins and rose again to show me how it is finished. We receive Him as Our Lord and Savior. We Pray!

“Into my heart, Into my heart, Come into my heart, Lord Jesus; Come in today, Come in to stay, Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.

Jesus, You said; “I AM the Way, The Truth and The Life; No Man comes unto the Father except by Me.” True!

“Neither is there Salvation in any other_ _ _.”

IS THERE A GOD?

November 3, 2005

“Not one recognized religious leader, not Moses, Paul, Buddha, Mohammed, Confucius, etc., has ever claimed to be God; that is, with the exception of Jesus Christ. Christ is the only religious leader who has ever claimed to be deity and the only individual ever who has convinced a great portion of the world that He is God.” – Thomas Schultz

YOUNG EARTH?

November 3, 2005

Pastor surprised us with a gap of genrations of first family groups. The begats of family members are just family names may have included genrations thus giving some evidence for an ancient earth. Who says so? Carl Baugh or Ken Ham? Who are we to believe. The debate of the age of generations are in question. Does anyone know what these generations are? Was there death before Adam?

Intelligent Design

Sneakers and wristwatches
Evolutionists seldom question the intelligent design in everyday life | by Andree Seu

Stay tuned for the far-reaching outcome of the trial in which 11 parents have hauled the Dover, Pa., school board to federal court for requiring biology teachers to present Intelligent Design as an alternative to Evolution (see “Dover dilemma”). Meanwhile, meditate on a curiosity of nature you remember from childhood—sneakers draped over telephone wires. You looked and wondered.

Soon you were a man and faced the biggest “sneakers over the wire” question of all: the teeming, complex, and variegated universe. You have only just arrived on the scene, and no one witnessed the weaving together of the vertebrate eye or bacterial flagellum. You shrug and say, “Your guess is as good as mine.”

But you do not really believe, of course, that one guess is as good as another. Coming upon the wristwatch on the beach, you do not countenance the suggestion of a fortuitous collision of glass and metal equally with the theory that at some time in the past a skillful artisan designed the timepiece. As an adult you have learned to detect design.

A theory may fall into trouble over time—die a death by qualification, become obsolete by dint of new facts. Yet such a theory, moribund though it is, may be kept on life supports for a number of reasons, reasons that themselves are embarrassingly unscientific. Scientist Michael J. Behe describes such a theory in Darwin’s Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution.

Mr. Behe tells of a time when the biological cell was the last “black box”—a functioning entity whose inner workings remained mysterious. But then came Watson and Crick in the 1950s with the DNA double helix, and molecular biochemistry was born. Scientists were now able to peer into the ground-floor workings of life, the molecular level where all the action happens. No longer would inquirers after life’s mysteries need to look to gross anatomy but to staggeringly complex chemical processes.

What molecular biology did was to reveal “irreducible complexity.” That is, the function of a system depends on the integrated activity of interactive components, no one of which can be removed without collapsing the system. Genetic mutations would have to occur simultaneously and coadaptively for this Evolution scheme to work. Mr. Behe writes, “An irreducibly complex system cannot be produced . . . by slight successive modifications of a precursor system, because any precursor to an irreducibly complex system that is missing a part is by definition nonfunctional” (examples: the vertebrate camera eye, the feather, the mammalian kidney).

The question is this: Why do so many scientists—people who would never pick up a stranded wristwatch and hypothesize that it occurred by “gradualism”—suspend everyday logic and rules of evidence when it comes to the “big” questions of origins? “There is no publication in the scientific literature . . . that describes how molecular evolution of any real, complex, biochemical system either did occur or even might have occurred. There are assertions . . . , but absolutely none are supported by pertinent experiments or calculations” (Behe, p. 185).

The emperor—Evolution—has no clothes. And meanwhile there’s an elephant in the living room—Design—that everyone’s ignoring. Things get bizarre: Sir Francis Crick at the end of his career suggested in the scientific journal Icaru that life on earth may have begun when aliens on rocket ships deposited spores here. Other scientists paper over difficulties in Evolution with hopeful words (an anatomical adaptation is breezily alleged to have “sprung forth” or “appeared”). It’s like a tale told by a child, full of amusing gaps in the narration.

Anything is preferred to considering the alternative that’s as plain as the vertebrate eye on their faces.

Mr. Behe concludes: “To the person who does not feel obliged to restrict his search to unintelligent causes, the straightforward conclusion is that many biological systems were designed. . . . The conclusion of intelligent design flows naturally from the data itself . . . a humdrum process that requires no new principles of logic or science. It comes simply from the hard work that biochemistry has done over the past 40 years, combined with consideration of the way in which we reach conclusions of design every day.”

May logic prevail in Dover. May the pedestrian rules of evidence for pondering wristwatches and sneaker-lassoed telephone wires be applied to ferreting out origins of the universe.

WAR ON CHRISTMAS

The War on Christmas: How the Liberal Plot to Ban the Sacred Christian Holiday Is Worse Than You Thought – John Gibson’s latest book goes on sale today.
Don’t miss your chance to find out how the most basic ideas surrounding Christmas are being suppressed and who is working to keep religion out of this sacred day.

Comments:
An outstanding read! Every Christian, every Christian wannabe and, indeed, anyone who just wants to be truly educated about this cultural clash needs to read this.

May I suggest to all that read this follow what I did last year about this time concerning the lack of the word “Christmas” in malls, retail stores and retail websites of such. I started writing letters to ever business that I would normally do my Christmas gift shopping with informing them that if they only had “holiday gifts” for sale during the “Christmas season” that I would not be making purchases from them. Rather I would shop from only those retailers who sell “Christmas gifts” and save my “holiday” buying from them until “Ground Hog’s Day”. I will forever keep that promise too. Vote with your wallet to make a change.

What a good idea. I think I’ll try the same thing. Why don’t we start doing writing to the retailers before the Christmas season starts so they will know ahead of time. The season has been called Christmas for 2,00 years, why change it. If you don’t like the name, don’t shop, don’t buy gifts, don’t put up a tree, don’t have a party, don’t have a dinner, etc.

Thank God that you are leading this “march”! I have been trying to find a venue to state my position on this issue. It is ironic, but last year many large retail stores had chosen “Season’s Greetings” for their brochures and flyers, however when the season was over, we received many flyers with the caption “After Christmas Sale”!! Since then, I have chosen to not frequent these stores. I have wondered “where is the outrage from Christians all over this country?” I am ready to be a “soldier” in the War Against Christmas!

If someone wants to take an unfair advantage of you, like giving up your seat, your place in line, use the occasion to practice the servant life, heaping hot coals upon his head.
